Proteus Saxophone Quartet

Born from a shared love for exploring chamber music together, the Proteus Saxophone Quartet was formed in 2011 in Paris while the members were studying in French conservatories. They strive to perform music from many styles, creating eclectic programs, which feature the saxophone and its diverse personas. Proteus explores a diverse repertoire, performing a wide variety of music including new music, oeuvres from the classical saxophone canon, popular tunes, Classical and Romantic pieces. They aim to explore the endless possibilities of the saxophone, including modern interpretations of non-idiomatic works for the saxophone. They program wide-ranging concerts, which aim to entertain and to educate the public about the history of the saxophone and the saxophone quartet repertoire.
