Mary Meiklejohn

I moved to Southern Manitoba in 2013 and began diving into artwork, exploring various media. I work as an agronomist as my day job. A lot of what I do is analytical, problem solving and research. And yet I love being creative. I love the meditative state of mind when I immerse myself in art. I want my art to evoke emotions in the viewer. I especially aspire to feelings of happiness, peace and beauty for the soul. However this particular piece I added an element of an awareness of something happening. I wanted the beauty of winter trees covered in hoar frost combined with the mystery of the night linked to the elderly woman. I wanted meaning in the painting.
